HINNENI
09.21.21
/ HINNENI /
It’s been 40 days since I settled back home in Jersey.
It’s been a desert.
A mountain.
A flood.
In Scripture, 40 days emphasize times of judgment and testing. Noah, Moses, even Jesus. There’s been temptations to think I’m not ready, I’m not fit for it, I’m not supposed to be here. But just like Jesus was tempted 40 days in the wilderness, there’s an identity I can’t deny. There’s a person I can’t deny. The Father calls me His beloved. He promised miracles to happen on this campus and in this state. He invites me and you to be part of it.
When Abraham and Joseph were called by God, they both responded with the word “hinneni” which in Hebrew means “here I am” or “I am ready”.
When God calls us, it’s not enough that we believe what He says is true. The question is, do we agree with Him? Are you here? Are you ready?
Let it be yes.
Mama Mary, you did it best.
Teach me how to keep saying yes.
To give a fiat even at Calvary.
To stand at the foot of the cross.
To suffer well with Our Lord.
Mother of Jesus, pray for us.
ALL SAINTS
11.01.21
Catholics don’t worship saints.
But, we do love celebrating the stories of people who fell so in love with God that they let Him transform their lives!
Saints are friends and their lives are testimonies to the transformative love of God. They make new the ancient story of salvation in every generation. They’re a testament that heaven is FORREAL. And that it’s not some distant reality, but it’s possible now and in every generation. The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Here and now because of Jesus. They magnify the Lord. They don’t take away from His glory nor do they become idols. Just as it is with you and your testimony. You’re not called to be an idol, you’re called to be a SAINT! And there are friends in heaven (and earth) praying for you.
Your whole life can magnify the Lord— that’s what a saint is. I want to be one too.
Special shoutout to my Saint besties that teach me how to love more and more like Jesus:
